About
Waitaki Summer Music Camp is an opportunity for musicians of all ages to play orchestral and large ensemble music in a relaxed, sociable and fun environment supported by experienced tutors.
The programme runs over eight days: beginning on Sunday and ending with a public concert on Saturday night. A typical day includes sectional, full orchestra and large ensemble rehearsals. There is free time for players to get together to play chamber music or tennis, or sample the cafes and sights of Oamaru. Some tutor support may be available for self-organised chamber groups. In the evenings there are informal concerts and social events, including a quiz night and, after the public concert on the Saturday night, a fun concert. Families are particularly welcome - each year we have parents, brothers and sisters playing together in the same ensembles As a guide, you need to be of grade six standard or above. We don't have auditions. Have a look at the music performed in previous years - this may help you decide if you would enjoy taking part. Please talk to us if you are unsure about the playing level, we aim to be as inclusive as possible. Information on camp policies Camp constitution and rules |
